Woodland Riders Downhill Mountain bike Club
The Woodland Riders is a Downhill only mountain bike club based near Tavistock in the South West of Devon. The Club was formed in 2005 as a way to raise the money needed to pay the landowner the rent, which would allow us to legally ride in the area. The money raised from the membership fees also goes towards insurance and affiliation with the British Cycling Federation.
As a result you MUST BE A MEMBER to ride here, or have permission from a member of the committee.
There are currently a selection of 6 downhill tracks to choose from, with more under construction all the time. They vary in difficulty from relatively easy (but fast) to very steep technical courses with large jumps and drops.
One benefit we've had since starting the Woodland Riders is that we have been granted access to a new site and given nearly £50,000 from the Tamar Vally AONB to build a new expert only Downhill Race Course. This single track has now turned into four new tracks with two Downhill courses and two Cross Country/Downhill Courses. All of this is now under construction, however even when they are completed access to this area and the tracks will be restricted until the proper utilities are in place. So if you know where they are please resist the temptation to go there or you could jeopardize the project for everyone. The main aim of these new facility's is to be able to host national downhill races here, which is something most of use thought would never happen.
YOU MUST BE A MEMBER TO RIDE HERE, IF YOU ARE INJURED WHILE RIDING HERE AND ARE NOT A MEMBER YOU RUN THE RISK OF GETTING EVERYONE THROWN OFF THE LAND, ALL 120+ OF US. SO DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
